Community Cornerstone Recipient
Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union & Country 106.5 WYRK are proud to recognize Dwight Lowe as this month’s Community Cornerstone!
Dwight is the Executive Director of Home Beneath Our Feet, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Buffalo that works with local youth and gives them a platform to grow through a gardening and holistic education initiative. Last year Dwight ran a Summer Growth Program for children and taught them how to garden and grow their own food. Students were able to take home the food they grew, and Dwight took what was left and gave the food away to people in the neighborhood. He also organized two community clean-up days last summer, ran three community gardens, and is currently running an After School Program for high school students.
Dwight’s commitment and dedication to the Western New York Community is truly appreciated by us all and we look forward to all that he will achieve to continue to be a positive influence in the lives of our youth now and in the future! On behalf of all of us here at WYRK and Cornerstone, Congratulations on your well-deserved recognition of being named this month’s Community Cornerstone.
In partnership with Country 106.5 WYRK and BriteSmith Brewing, we are seeking nominations to reward an individual’s passion for our community. Our monthly winner will receive a $500 donation to the winner’s favorite cause, and a $100 dinner gift certificate to celebrate! Think of a worthy recipient and nominate them for the Community Cornerstone!
Amherst Location Now Open!
We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new Amherst branch located at 315 Stahl Road in Getzville. This branch becomes the sixth location for Cornerstone and the very first physical location in Erie County. Securing the Getzville location came out of a desire to expand our field of membership brought about by COVID-19. During the height of the pandemic, Cornerstone Community FCU served WNY small businesses by participating in the PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) disbursing approximately $8.5 million dollars and 144 loans to area business owners.
We are looking forward to supporting small businesses with our robust Business Lending Program in addition to fulfilling our philanthropic goal of supporting community nonprofits through volunteering, fundraising, and sponsorships.
If you live, work, worship, volunteer, or attend school in either Niagara or Erie County, you are eligible for a Cornerstone Membership.
